Our kids spent some of their time with their dad and some of their moments with me. I kept up with what he was doing through having some conversations with my kids. I learned from my daughter that he was already working from home, selling on the internet. This happened because my daughter was begging me to go to his father's place even if he was so busy at work. I prohibited her to visit her dad because of that reason. That was what I knew. He was such a workaholic man. My daughter insisted to spend time with him since there was no class on that day.
When my daughter told me that it was going to be fine and added that her father was no longer working anymore from his previous employer, I was completely surprised. I was also very interested with what he was selling on the internet.My ex-husband used to work like there was no tomorrow. Even if he hated his job, Im proud to say he was truly great at it. Isn't that ironic? Well, that's how workaholic he was. I remembered, after our separation , I had already heard news that the old employer he was working for was already under new management. I thought , maybe he didn't like the new owner at all so he left the company and started selling on the internet right after.
One time, when I dropped the children off at my ex-husband's house, he asked me to have a cup of coffee with him. We talked for a couple of minutes and he told me that he's now selling on the internet. He is now his own manager. He took his separation pay from his old employer and was investing a portion of it into his internet business at home. He added that he was beginning to generate some income in selling on the internet. He was wishing that he could earn as much as he can before his separation pay was already gone. He said that he was happier in selling on the internet compared to working for his old job. I learned that he also loved the concept that all his time and effort was for the profit of his own business and not just for someone else. I was and I still am very thrilled with what's happening to his life right now. I do hope that he will succeed in selling on the internet and we will still support him inspite of everything that happened.I have experienced a lot of things in life that I never thought would happen to me. As a counselor and a social worker, I spend most of my time helping people deal with their family problems, most especially issues involving divorce in married couples. I never imagined myself being involved in divorce proceedings just like what my client's issues. I never realized that our relationship was already weak until my husband asked me for a divorce.
This situation was definitely a very huge adjustment for our kids. In spite of this, my ex-husband and I assured them that we loved them and they had nothing to do with the divorce process. I was thankful that we were able to deal with each other sensibly and we were able to decide to move on with our lives. When the divorce procedures were over, I realized that he was right about getting the separation since we were not completely happy with our relationship anymore. All those years, we were absolutely lying to ourselves.
