I have observed one small difference in the new 2G SIM Cards issued by BSNL in few cities. The new 2G Sim chip design looks exactly like 3G Sim design. therefore I think both the 2G & 3G Sims are one and the same except only logo print difference on the front i.e 2G orBSNL 3G.
Old 2G SIM have small chip size, while new 2G SIM and 3G Sim both have a bigger Chip design.
BSNL is doing this perhaps because the new SIM Chip Design allows them to control the data speed (Speed Capping) remotely from their server.
Hence those who are using old 2G SIMs (Small chip design) are likely to continue enjoying 3G speeds on Rs. 270 recharge and those who have bought new 2G SIMs (simillar to 3G chip design) will face problems of speed capping fromBSNL.
Friends, this is what I have experienced myself, please validate from your experiences. Recently I purchased another 2G SIM of old design from differentBSNL vendor and it is giving me a good speed.
and hence{i used bsnl with 160-250 kbps speed in rajasthan).whatever you use then hit thanks...
